Ganbare!! Robocon (がんばれ!!ロボコン, Ganbare!! Robokon, Do Your Best!! Robocon) was a Japanese tokusatsu show created by Shotaro Ishinomori that aired from 1974 to 1977. It is notable for being the first "kiddie" show created by Toei. In 1999, it received a sequel, Moero!! Robocon.
Plot[]
The show features the titular Robocon, a student of the Gantz' Robot Academy. He lives among humans, and studies their ways. However, though he means well, he is a screw-up and often unintentionally ruins the lives of those around him.

Attempted Cartoon Network adaptation[]
In 2006, Cartoon Network planned to develop a western animated adaptation titled Robocon! The series would have been set in a futuristic city called Neo-Con City. Similar to other series, Robocon lived with a family. A major difference is that the family has no mother as the father is portrayed as a single parent with the grandmother and uncle helping to raise the kids. The series never went beyond an animatic pilot.[1] The pilot features the voices of Tom Kenny and George Takei.

Ganbare!! Robocon received a movie reboot called Ganbareiwa!! Robocon and premiered on July 31, 2020.[2]
