Character History[]
Gongsun Zan was originally an orphan who was befriended by Liu Bei. The two became best friends, and would later be adopted by Master Lu Zhi. They grew up together at the Do-Won-Gwan Martial Arts School, where she focused on her dream of becoming a master of the Flying Dragon Fist and becoming Master Lu Zhi's successor.
Gongsun Zan begins the show as a serious student and caretaker at the Do-Wan-Gwan Martial Arts School. Unlike her best friend Liu Bei, she had not been banned from practicing martial arts by Master Hi Jen. She is extremely focused on keeping the school running and prone to trying to prod Liu Bei verbally and physically into being more active. She becomes increasingly vexed with him as he tries to balance the martial arts school with the Dream Battle.
After a misunderstanding during their competition to become Master Lu Zhi's successor, she stalks off and receives the Hero Piece Zhao Yun from Sima Yi. She and Liu Bei fight, but Liu Bei is having trouble sustaining both of his Hero Pieces. The fight is a draw but she has more energy after the fight. She gives him three days to withdraw from the Dream Battle or else she will knock him out of it. However, before that time, they get into an argument at the school and are kicked out by Master Lu Zhi. They return to their first home, the orphanage, where they remember their first meeting with Master Lu Zhi. They discover that Guan Yu and Zhang Fie are starting to turn to stone, starving to death from Liu Bei's dream not being enough for the two of them. Liu Bei tries to get them to go to Gonsun Zan, but they refuse citing their oath. Gongsun Zan also refuses, and reminds him that he used to have a much bigger, stronger dream. They are then attacked by another Legend Hero who easily handles Gongsun Zan while Liu Bei cannot even transform due to the weak state of his Hero Pieces. However, during the battle Liu Bei is reminded of his dream to use the Flying Dragon Fist to make everyone happy. His remembered dream not only revives Guan Yu and Zhang Fie, but fully recharges them. After fighting side by side, the two find Master Lu Zhi and reunited they return home to the martial arts school.
The two both become co-successors to Master Lu Zhi, and thus take on running the martial arts school while trying to handle the Dream Battle. While they argue having different ideas and ways of doing things, they also become partners in the Dream Battle, fighting side by side as the competition heats up.
Personality[]
Gongsun Zan is strong, hot-tempered girl especially when Liu Bei becomes lazy. She is a serious practicioner of the Flying Dragon Fist, and is both more skilled and more physically fit than her friend, especially in the beginning. She is very careful, especially with money, and in many ways more mature than Liu Bei, but also less friendly and open. She supports her friend when in a time of need and understands what he feels due to having grown up together almost like siblings.
Form[]
Gongsun Zan, like all Legend Heroes, transforms into an armored form by combining with a Hero Piece. The power of each form is partially based on the user's Hero Power (their will power to fight for their dream), partially the user's skill, and also the bond between the Legend Hero and the Hero Piece.
Legend Hero Zhao Yun
Legend Hero Zhao Yun is based on the unicorn. Assumed when Gongsun Zan, and later Liu Bei, combine with the Hero Piece Zhao Yun, this Legend Hero is built for speed. Capable of making short bursts of super speed leaving a blue blur behind, this Legend Hero combines superior speed to outflank enemies with the reach of the unicorn spear. However, while this Legend can hit faster than many others, it loses out to others in terms of strength and defense.
